What a lovely place to spend a few days! We were visiting Southwell to go to a wedding then stay on for a 69th birthday celebration. Rebecca came to welcome us shortly after our arrival and provided a wealth of local knowledge whilst making us feel like we were old friends. We exchanged a number of text messages over our stay and she was so helpful. The cottage was wonderful, everything we might have needed had been thought of and the breakfast basket was incredible. The cottage location felt like we were in the countryside but was literally 5 minutes from the centre of town. We would definitely recommend this to anyone as a place to stay and we most certainly would come again.

We booked the cottage as somewhere quiet to stay when in the area for our son’s wedding. We knew it’d be a hectic day so we wanted a place where we could relax and recuperate quietly after such an exciting and emotional day. The beds and linens were very comfortable. The bathroom was very clean with a good shower and towels. There was a lovely welcome pack in the kitchen. We’d certainly book again when in the area!

We have stayed at Lavender Cottage in Southwell twice and both times have been excellent. Rebecca is a super host. The accommodation included a breakfast hamper and personalised gifts for our young children. The cottage was perfect for our visits to Southwell, located around 5 minutes walk from Southwell Minster and centre of town with its shops and restaurants. The beds were comfortable and we slept very well - thankyou!

We loved our stay at Rebecca's place! She was so communicative and helpful throughout the process and made us feel right at home. We had a 6 month old baby staying with us and everything was laid out so perfectly for him, including a custom tote which was so sweet. It made our entire experience really joyful and relaxing.

A lovely refurbished cottage with great hosts. Rebecca and Stuart were exceptional hosts. The cottage itself has been beautifully refurbished, decorated and furnished. Rebecca had provided a breakfast hamper with bread which exactly matched our pre-arrival request, cereals, tea, coffee (ground and instant) and marmalade (a gift which we took away with us at Rebecca's request). The cottage was spotless and its position overlooking the Memorial Gardens was excellent. They gave us immediate and good advice about the wifi when the erratic router went down and offered us the alternative of connecting via their own home's wifi if needed (which it wasn't). We cannot commend their guest service too highly and have recommended Lavender Cottage to other members of our family.

What a lovely place to stay, warm and cozy and a fantastic location. The wood-burning stove was an added treat. A real treasure and I would love to stay here again.

Lovely quiet, private, cosy cottage perfectly suited for those exploring Southwell or visiting the nearby NTU Brackenhurst campus. The accommodation itself was spotless, with good cooking facilities, a nice powerful shower with plentiful hot water and a lovely welcome basked upon arrival (bread, cereal, milk, marmalade, biscuits etc). Rebecca was a responsive and helpful host, providing local recommendations to visit / eat at and when asked for an extension cable so that we could both get some work done, was able to provide for the next day, so we thank her for that. She also provided me with some fresh herbs which I used in cooking, which I thought was a really thoughtful and considerate touch (they were delicious). Thank you for such a lovely stay.

From our initial chat to meeting Rebecca and Stuart in person, they were the consummate hosts, making us feel warmly welcomed. The accommodation was beautifully appointed, with no detail overlooked. Upon arrival, we were greeted with thoughtful touches like milk, bread, and snacks awaiting us. This charming two-bedroom cottage was an absolute delight to stay in. The only downside was the cold weather—but this is England, after all!

Perfect for a cosy winter getaway. Exceptionally kind and friendly hosts. Southwell is a lovely little town. The Minster is gorgeous. We were there at Christmas, so most of the shops were shut but it looked like there were lots of lovely independent shops and cafes. There were lots of complementary items at the cottage when we arrived, including tea, coffee, a large milk, bread, butter marmalade. The cupboard was well stocked with salt and pepper. There was kindling, matches and complementary logs for the fire. This meant we could go straight in and make ourselves comfortable. The hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout the stay. We had a perfect Christmas break in this cosy cottage which combined character with modern comforts.

The cottage is extremely cosy and the host has thought about everything you could possibly need for a couple of nights stay - including the breakfast hamper! The place is clean and tidy. Rebecca is lovely, welcoming, available for questions and came to briefly introduce herself upon arrival. It is a close walk in to the town which is beautiful! A supermarket is also just 10 minute walk away and if you are attending a wedding at The Old Vicarage, like we were - it’s the Perfect location as it’s about a 5-10 minute walk and 2 minute drive!! There are quite a few restaurant choices in the town. Thank you for everything, we had a superb stay! The neighbours to the cottage are lovely and welcoming and don’t bother you at all, except a friendly hello!

We visited family in Southwell over the week of Christmas and this cottage was the perfect hotel alternative that offered us a private space that felt like a home away from home. Personal touches like a welcome basket, decorated Christmas tree, and treats for our children were unexpected surprises that made Lavender cottage standout!

Lavender cottage is in an ideal location to explore Southwell on foot. The welcome package is one of the best I've seen and the kitchen has everything you'd need such as coffee, tea, butter, oil, dishwasher tablets . The beds have good quality mattresses that provide a good night's sleep although the second bedroom is more suited to a single person. Will definitely use this has a base again to visit Southwell and the surrounding countryside.

Lavender Cottage is a perfect accommodation for visiting Southwell & the surrounding area. The cottage is very comfortable & beautifully appointed & Rebecca is a kind & very responsive host. We were met with a lovely welcome hamper & lots of information to help with our stay. We visited Southwell Minster & the Palace Gardens, Belvoir Castle & Gardens & also got the very convenient bus into Nottingham for the day. Pubs I would mention positively in Southwell are The Admiral Rodney, The Hearty Goodfellow, The Final Whistle & The Old Coach House. In terms of food we used The Bamboo House & Scoozis Pizzas. Southwell is a lovely walkable town & Lavender Cottage the perfect place to stay.

My grandad parents stayed at the cottage for our wedding and they were so grateful for everything Rebecca did! She's the perfect hostess and made sure they had everything they needed for their stay, even down to bread, milk and cereal for their breakfast! The cottage is beautiful and in the perfect location. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Southwell!

We had a very pleasant few days in the cottage at soutgwell. Rebecca our host could not have been more helpful. She messaged to check all was OK. Plus some suggestions of events during that weekend. The cottage was just the right size for the 3 of us. The welcome pack was very much appreciated, milk bread tea coffee etc.

We stayed at lovely Lavender Cottage over Christmas and we honestly could not have asked for more in an Airbnb stay. We were genuinely blown away by all the trouble that Rebecca went to in order to ensure that we - and particularly our two young children - had a fantastic time, especially as we were staying at such a special time of year. All the little touches - personalised Christmas presents waiting for the children on their beds when we arrived, reindeer food for them to put out on Christmas Eve, mince pies for Santa - really did make it a Christmas to remember. Communication with Rebecca was excellent throughout the booking process and during our stay, and we felt that anything we needed whilst at Lavender Cottage was just a text away. Thank you, Rebecca!

Hello I’m Rebecca. I hope to welcome you to my home town soon. I’ve been in the tourism industry for the last 30 years and apart from my love of travel I enjoy making your holiday in Historic Southwell the best it can possibly be. We’ve lived in Southwell for over 25 years and as a family business we take care to think of everything we can to ensure your stay runs smoothly from start to finish. Gifts are left for all children who stay with us and as the park is so close, behind Park Terrace our smaller guests will love the zip wire and play areas being a few steps away.
